PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMITTEE
JANUARY 8, 1996 5:30 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS
MEMBERS PRESENT: Ron Marshall Miles Walton
Chuck Dickerson Jeanette Dolechek
Dave Michael Jim Flisrand
OTHERS PRESENT: Puff Anderson Kristine Kerr
1) Kristine Kerr was present wanting to know if the City would
install a check valve in her sewer service because she cannot
afford the $800 that she was quoted for cost.
Jim Flisrand showed the committee and Mrs. Kerr a PVC check
body and explained the typical installation of it.
Jim estimated that the check body would cost between $35 and
$42, the rubber couplings (2 required) would cost $5 each and
the rental for a saw to cut the concrete would cost $30 to
$50. The total estimated costs would be approximately
$125.00.
Through discussion the committee gave Mrs. Kerr several
solutions and suggestions.
2) Proposed Upper Reservoir.
Jim gave an overview of the proposed reservoir and problems.
The following determinations need to be made:
1) If there is a need for the reservoir
2) Placement, ground level or elevated.
3) Location of the reservoir.
4) Need of water for airport industrial activities and
fire protection.
5) Commitment for future water needs.
Bob Graham wants the committee to make a decision on his
proposal on the upper reservoir site as presented.
The committee recommended to set up a meeting with Bob Graham
for the next scheduled Public Utilities meeting or a special
meeting at his convenience.
