City of Laurel
P.O. BOX 10 LAUREL, MONTANA 59044
PHONE: 6285791 DEPARTMENT
The City of Laurel has decided to simply close the
extension of Fifth Avenue North, instead of abandoning it as
you requested. The city will erect signs and/or barriers to
inform the general public that access to that street portion is
denied. The city will have no objection to your erecting
temporary fences or movable structures within the street
right-of-way at this time. However, the city cannot allow any
permanent structures to be erected therein. The city reserves
the right to reopen and improve the subject street portion at
any time in the future. Whatever temporary structures you
might erect therein are deemed to have been erected at your own
risk, and you may be required to remove all of the same at your
expense at some future date, if the City decides to reopen the
street. If you enclose your half of the area with a fence, you
will still be required to obtain a fence permit as are all
other city residents, and you will then be required to keep the
weeds within the fence area mowed.
