BUILDING COMMITTEE
JANUARY 28, 1997 5:00 P.M.

Discussion was held on the necessity of moving ahead on the
construction of security walls inside the city hall water and
engineering offices before doing some repair work on the outside of
City Hall.
In light of the recent trend of workplace violence and because of
certain situations that have occurred within the offices in recent
years the City staff felt a real need of having a secured office.
Motion by Darrell McGillen, seconded by Mike Zuhoski, to
proceed with the security inside of City Hall offices before doing
the outside of City Hall. Motion carried.
In addition, the archways in the Council Chambers need to be
discussed with the possibility of enclosing them. Exiting issues
would also require review.
Jim Flisrand will try to coordinate estimates for the new phone
system, security walls, council chamber adjustments and overall
security issues in approximately 30 days or less for the next
Building Committee meeting.
It was also suggested that an architect be consulted in the design
of the engineering office to create a better working flow for the
area.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
