A general discussion was held by all attending for
the first hour.The committee then took information and
comments and came up with the following:
Problems
1 Hobos on Birch Ave.
2 Hobos at Community Hope
3 Hobos on railroad property
4 Hobos on Interstate
5 Hobos on County land in area of Alder Ridge
6 Area residents are too good-hearted
7 Dogs
8 Easily assessable food in commercial garbage
9 Verbal threats from Transients
10 Family Services not doing anything
11 Appearance of 506 Birch lowering neighborhood
property values
12 Junk vehicle at 506 Birch
Solutions
1 Set up neighborhood watch program
2 Gay Easton will bring back information at next
meeting
3 Get Council approval to send 1Gtter to Railroads
to actively prosecute trespassers
4 Put up sign at off ramp prohibiting panhandling

Corsin will look into this matter
S Actively solicit the help of Alder Ridge
residents in reporting the congregating of
Hobos in their area
Contact state representives to adopt a state law
concerning vagrancy,panhandling and hitchhiking.
Contact County Commissioners to let them know of
our problem
6 Story on the problems created by area residents
when they give the hobos a hand out.Jennifer
will help us out in this area.
7 Check with city attorney concerning proof of
vaccination
Amount of days required before license is
required
Police can take care of noise complaints if more
than on person complains and the times are
recorded
8 Solicit ideas from the Chamber and local
restaurants
Garbage dept may have a proposal coming soon
that may help in this area
9 Police will respond if residents Tkone in a
complaint
10 Locals should make calls to Family Services and
complain
11 Residents should complain about weeds and snow
removal at 506 Birch
12 Mike will take care of the junked van
