WATER TASK FORCE COMMITTEE
AUGUST 6, 1997 7:00 P.M.
CITY HALL
PRESENT : Gay Easton Chuck Rodgers Dave Michael
Laurel Haggart Dirk Kroll Miles Walton
Dave Mosser Jason Riddle Bud Johnson
Jim Flisrand Barbara Campbell
1) Bids for rehab of concrete and steel reservoirs were reviewed.
Barb Campbell presented the bid options for Phase I (steel
reservoir) and Phase II (concrete reservoir) on Reservoir
Rehabilitation.
Options: 1) Reject Bids
2) Accept Bids
3) Accept modified version of bid.
Discussion. Dave Mosser explained why the bids came in higher
than the Engineer's estimates. The cover over the concrete
reservoir is approximately $90,000 over and the coating in
concrete tank is approximately $70,000 over. These were two
big items.
Dave also indicated that we could negotiate with the
contractor to see if there could be any reduction in the bid
price.
A general discussion was held on:
1) SRF Funding- to reject bids and rebid everything this
winter.
2) One project or two. If we should accept a portion of bid
concrete reservoir and reject steel tank and rebid with
the Water Plant.
3) Committee prefers the concrete tank this fall. Dave
Masser agrees.
Committee recommends accepting the bids as is and negotiating
with Dick Anderson to see if the bid price can be reduced with
concrete tank being done this fall (1997) and the steel
reservoir being done next spring (1998).
2) Dave Mosser spoke on Morrison/Maierle's present position on
payment for engineering services for design.
Discussion. The Committee recommends balance due at this time
would be paid when bonds were sold for each phase of the
project.
Engineering for the reservoir when funds were available from
the bond sale and the balance when funds were available after
bond sale when the Water Plant is bid.
Respectfully submitted,
Dave Michael
