Bud Johnson asked for an update on the Merchant. Apartments. Jim
mentioned that he talked with Mr. Reed and he indicated that all of
our information has been submitted.
Discussion regarding abatement proceedings, not only on the Merchant
Apartment property but also on other property that Jim Martin owns.
Joe, Jim and Larry will get started on this and it was suggested that
Larry McCann be put in charge so that someone can follow through and
• get the job done on a timely basis.
Chuck mentioned that he and Dirk were the only ones at the License
Committee meeting _last Monday night, so there wasn't a quorum. They
reviewed t:he computer print: out and conferred with the City Treasurer
and she didn't see any problems with issuing the renewals. Approval of
the 1996-97 business licenses is on the council agenda tonight.
Gay mentioned that he has heard several comments regarding -the
Greyhound bus stopping in front of the Eagles on the west bound lane.
It appears to be causing a safety hazard.. It was suggested that the
Street/Alley Committee take a look at this problem. John has the same
concern and Vicki said that the bus depot business license should be
reviewed by the License Committee.
Jim presented and reviewed the DPW update of July 2, 1996. He
commented that the new tandem truck makes quite a difference in
hauling street materials. The new container site is now completed.
Chuck Dickerson is concerned that the bac.khoe is running during a
graveside service at the cemetery. Jim will review this with the
cemetery employees.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
