It was reported that the transients are back in town.
Chuck Dickerson reported that last Friday the residents in the
SID 110 area received a letter from Engineering, Inc. Chuck and
Royal distributed flyers to all the property owners within the
SID explaining the project requirements and the new cost. A
meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at 7:00
p.m. in the Laurel City Council Chambers to review the SID area.
There is a possibility that the residents will vote on whether to
continue or discontinue this project.
Discussion regarding the walking bridge over the big ditch in
Murray Heights. Jim reported that the county owns it. Mr. Murray
is working with Harlan Lund to develop a legal description of
that south property which he wants to deed to the city. The
County should maintain the bridge until such time it becomes city
property.
Discussion regarding the Merchant Apartments. Jim met with the
investigating team that Mr. Martin hired and they are going to
prepare a report for Mr. Martin. Joe reported that he had talked
with the adjuster on Thursday and the report has been sent to Mr.
Martin.
Discussion regarding the MDU building. Jim has been in contact
with the contractor and they will be demolishing the building
just as soon as the property owners decide how they wish to
handle it. There are some complicated issues involved. there.
Gay is concerned about the ruling that came from the State Fire
Marshall regarding the 4th of July fireworks display. Darrell was
in contact with the fireworks distributor today and he is looking
at that very carefully with the State Fire Marshall. The State
Fire Marshall will be sending out another letter retracting some
of the requirements in that original letter. This will not affect
us and we will be able to continue with the 4th of July
fireworks.
Discussion regarding the sprinkler system at Fox Lumber, which is
almost completely installed. Further discussion regarding the
manufacturing that they are doing and if they are properly
licensed.
Jim distributed and reviewed the DPW update of 5-7-96.
Chuck Rodgers asked the building committee to meet and take a
look a the City Hall building. It would be nice to get it washed
up and painted. Some deterioration is taking place also. We need
to get it fixed up.
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
