COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Chuck Rodgers Ron Marshall Chuck Dickerson Gay Easton Donna Kilpatrick Lonnie Kellogg Bob Graham OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie Vicki Metzger Mike Atkinson Don Hackmann Dave Michael Mike Zuhoski Chuck Dickerson mentioned that there might be some people at the council meeting tonight regarding the proposed SID in Murray Heights. Don distributed a proposed time schedule for advertising, etc. Chuck also reported that on the 1100 block of First Avenue there is a 300 gallon container sitting on the street, whereas other containers are in the alley. Dave said that there is no alley, only utilities. Dave will see about getting the container off of the street. This will be addressed by the Garbage Committee at their next meeting. Bob got a complaint about the people who live at 620 W. 8th Street. They are mowing their grass and dumping it in the street. The police will check into this. Donna asked if Ernie Davis was still making his payments. Vicki reported that his balance is $15,845. He has been making payments, but he is still about a year behind. Vicki has been keeping in contact with the county and his probation officer. Dave reported on the DPW update that was distributed. Work is progressing on the mowing and trimming of grass in the cemetery. Discussion regarding the spraying for dandelions. Dave said possibly they will start next week. Mike Zuhoski would like permission to close the alley between Cedar and Woodland. This will be discussed at the council meeting tonight. Mike Atkinson said that there will be a mock D.U.I. accident between a car and a train on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at 5th Avenue and Railroad Street. Mike invited the councilmen to attend. This is staged by the STAND group (Students Together Against Needless Drinking). n Mike brought a get well card for John Rosenberg for everyone to sign. Mike congratulated Mike Zuhoski on his promotion to Sergeant. Chuck Rodgers passed around a letter and a plaque which will be presented to John Rosenberg. Aug. 1, 1995 - Award bids August 1995 - Start Construction 0 I 0 FROM: Jim Flisrand, Director of Public Works TO: Mayor and City Council DATE: May 16, 1995 SUBJECT: Public Works- UPDATE STREET & ALLEY 1. Continuing our street maintenance programs including pothole patching, sweeping. 2. Completed our spring grading program. Will address individual problem areas throughout the summer with a second grading of all streets and alleys in October. 3. Grading drying beds for gravel and asphalt late this month, weather has delayed project. PARKS & CEMETERY 1. Equipment and building maintenance continuing. Cemetery maintenance includes leveling graves, trimming trees, spraying and preparing water system. 2. Park personnel have begun mowing city parks. WATER & SEWER 1. Continuing meter replacement and testing program. 2. Plants continuing with normal treatment and maintenance activities. Water Plant maintenance schedule is in full swing. 3. Jet rodding problem areas. 4. Water Improvements Project continuing with contract preparation. SOLID WASTE 1. Proceeding with collection and container site operation as required. 2. Waiting for response from Solid Waste bureau on our landfill situation. Final report was submitted May 10, 1995. 3. Spring alley cleanup has been completed with fewer residents participating due to weather. ADMINISTRATION 1. Building activity is heavy compared to previous years. 2. Continue work with each division on scheduling of work, coordination and individual responsibilities. 3. Monthly safety meetings are continuing with all Public Works departments. 4. Preliminary budget has been submitted.
