COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Chuck Rodgers Ron Marshall Gay Easton Albert Ehrlick John Minch Lonnie Kellogg Donna Kilpatrick Bob Graham OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie Mike Atkinson Dave Michael Don Hackmann D.L. McGillen Jim Flisrand Vicki Metzger (late) Lonnie reported that there are transients going to Michelle Herren's house on Birch Avenue again. The Family Services representative was contacted but she was reluctant to give out any information. Albert mentioned that the loading zone signs are still up where Nature's Corner Flower Shop used to be. They should be taken down. • Jim will check with the Street & Alley committee. John said that he got the same phone call that Lonnie got, from Mrs. Guenthner, regarding the transients. Jim handed out and reviewed the Public Works Update of 4-18-95. Jim reported that there is no further development on the city lots in Cherry Hills. Darrell McGillen said that Mr. McCann, the fire inspector, is here tonight to discuss the Fox Lumber situation. He has not complied with the fire codes in bringing up the sprinkling system at Fox Lumber to where it should be. There has been some activity at the vacated Merchants apartment again. The Police department is aware of it and Darrell has talked to Jim about it and he will check with Joe, the City Attorney, also. It is believed that there are juveniles involved. There is graffiti on the walls and evidence of a fire being started. If the building starts on fire he will not send the firemen into the building and jeopardize any lives. The boarding up of doors and windows with plywood, which was discussed several months ago, has not been done. More discussion and Jim said that he will check with the 1991 code. There are steps in there on what direction to take. Joe and Jim have already discussed this to some degree. ? t {G Donna asked if Fox Lumber has had enough time to comply with the code? He has had since March of 1993, 2 years, to take care of the sprinkler system problem. More discussion regarding wholesale and retail business that Mr. Fox is doing. Mike updated the condition of John Rosenberg. During the past month he has been fighting his cancer again real hard. It appears that he will be resigning from the Police department some time this week. His health has gotten to the point where he feels that he cannot continue to assist in the operation of the Police department and other officers say that safety is another issue. Mike wants to meet with the personnel committee next week. The meeting was adjourned at 6:53 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Don Hackmann City Clerk E C FROM: Jim Flisrand, Director of Public Works TO: Mayor and City Council DATE: April 18, 1995 SUBJECT: Public Works- UPDATE STREET & ALLEY 1.
