MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
NOVEMBER 15, 1994 6:30 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Jim Flisrand distributed a copy of a "Council Update" which he
prepared to brief the council of the progress being made in the
Public Works area during the past couple of weeks.
Chuck Rodgers mentioned that he has talked with some of the crew
and they are pleased with the progress that is being made and the
way things are changing.
Chuck Rodgers mentioned that he has appointments for the ambulance
reserves tonight, and also we will need to discuss the appointment
of the Ex-Officio member to the Study Commission. Ron Marshall has
shown an interest in serving on the committee.

COUNCIL UPDATE
FROM: Jim Flisrand, Director of Public Works
TO: Mayor and City Council
DATE: November 15, 1994
SUBJECT: Public Works- UPDATE
STREET & ALLEY
1. Completed 24" culvert installation on Montana Avenue-
beginning at 12th Street and running approximately 150 feet
south.
2. Completed street construction on Montana Avenue- beginning at
12th Street and running approximately 150 feet south.
3. Completed subgrade and base course for 3 sludge ponds at the
WWTP.
4. Begin alley cleanup program- approximately 50°; completed.
5. Continual pothole patching.
PARKS & RECREATION
1. Completed final cutting on all parks.
2. Winterized all sprinkler systems (twice).
3. Install sprinkler system in Fireman's Park- approximately 900
complete.
4. Begin upgrading all playground areas with the installation of
8 inches sand under and adjacent to all play equipment-
approximately 10 % done.
WATER & SEWER
1. Have repaired 25 water leaks throughout the past calendar
year.
2. Continue meter testing program.
3. Assist in sprinkler system installations.
4. Plants, proceeding with operational functions and maintenance
as required.
5. Sewer Plant has completed concrete work of all drying beds.
6. Water Plant renovation project is still in a preliminary
status. Steering Committee met October 13, 1994 with Morrison
& Maierle to discuss preparation of final cost estimate.
Committee's decision was to apply for a grant that would allow
adequate money to make necessary corrections to the Plant,
reservoir and water distribution lines. Morrison & Maierle
would compile an estimated cost of revised construction and
submit for comments.
