CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
NOVEMBER 1, 1994 6:30 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Chuck Rodgers
Ron Marshall Gay Easton
Albert Ehrlick Donna Kilpatrick
Bob Graham Lonnie Kellogg
OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie Jim Flisrand
Vicki Metzger Don Hackmann
Lonnie mentioned that he had a complaint from a resident who lives
next to where they use the Pixley operation. He was asking if they
had a home occupation and city license. This has come up before.
Vicki said that we cannot license them due to the Interstate
Commerce Commission guidelines. Discussion regarding all the
parking they have taken up. The Police Department will be
notified.
Chet Blaylock is holding a town meeting at the Laurel Public
Library this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the ballot issues.
Bob reported that there was considerable damage around town last
night (Halloween), and some residents were wondering where the
police were at the time. The Police Reserves use to help out
occasionally, but no one knows if they were last night.
Bob said that he had a fire in his house, which he put out. When
he called the Fire Department to report it, he couldn't find anyone
to tell it to. He called three people and they were either out of
town or working. When the word finally reached the Fire Department
Jim Stevens was there immediately. Bob suggested that a better
procedure should be set up for contacting the Fire Department under
these circumstances.
Gay complimented Jim Flisrand on the work being done at Firemen's
Park.
Don reminded everyone that City Hall will be closed November 8th
and November 11th due to Election Day and Veteran's Day being
Holidays.
Chuck reported that he is meeting with the crew tomorrow morning.
They have been doing a fine job.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Hackmann, City Clerk
