COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: Chairman - Chuck Rodgers Ron Marshall Gay Easton Albert Ehrlick Lonnie Kellogg V. Joe Leckie Sharon Herman Mike Atkinson Donna Kilpatrick Bob Graham John Minch Vicki Metzger Dave Michaels Jennifer Draper Ron reported that he heard on the news last night that the problems with the ash trees around town was caused by the cold weather and freeze that we had early this spring. Some of the branches may come out of it but we will just have to wait and see. Gay complimented the City Crew or whoever cleaned up the park so quickly after the 4th of July. Dave reminded the council of the quarterly landfill users meeting to be held in Billings on Tuesday, July 12th at 10:00 a.m. Dave stated that he will be on vacation and will not be able to attend. He encouraged any of the council members that can to attend. Dave stated that a representative from the refinery will be at the next Public Utilities meeting to request 2 fire hydrants on our east line for their tank farm because they do not have adequate flow in that area. Sharon reminded the council of the Budget Finance meeting and Special City Council meeting on Thursday, July 7th to review and approve the claims for the month of June. Mike Atkinson stated that Dave Slaymaker has resigned from the Police Department so they will be filling his position shortly. Vicki stated that Smokey Staudinger was in and wanted the council to know how much he appreciated having East 8th Street shut off for the 4th of July. There was discussion about the carnival that was in town over the weekend. Ron asked who gave them permission to shut off the alley and encroach on public property. Donna stated that they did it themselves. They came to the park committee meeting and told us how they felt about it, that it was private property and we didn't have any right to tell them no. They were suppose to leave an area open for traffic to get through. Ron stated the area was totally i r blocked off and they moved the garbage cans out in the street for pickup. The Mayor stated that he will be asking tonight what direction the council wants to go regarding the Maintenance Director or Public Works Director. He stated that we are running into a binding situation this coming week when so many people will be on vacation and out of town. We don't have anyone to carry the pager. John Minch stated that he would be willing to help out and he thought there were several of the guys at the shop that would also help.
