CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
JUNE 7, 1994 6:30 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Chuck Rodgers
Ron Marshall Gay Easton
Albert Ehrlick John Minch
Donna Kilpatrick Lonnie Kellogg
Bob Graham
OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie D.L. McGillen
Mike Atkinson Vicki Metzger
Dave Michael Don Hackmann
Lonnie and Bob have received complaints regarding junk cars next to
Norman Orr's residence. This has been turned over to the City
Attorney.
Chuck mentioned that there are pickup bodies on First Avenue also.
Ron brought up the problem with the Merchant apartments. The
windows should be boarded up. Mike got the address for Jim Martin,
• owner, and the City Attorney will write a letter to him. The weeds
on the property are also becoming a problem.
Donna reported that the deadline for the Fourth of July activities
is June 20th. Three new booths have been added since the last
report.
John reported that Debbie Dewell on East Eighth Street contacted
him about a water leak and there is a co-op of people that would
like to get it repaired. Letters have been sent to the people and
if they don't take care of it within 10 days the City is going to
shut the water off. Then they will have to get it fixed.
Discussion.
Dave said that this is a private line with four residences on it.
Mike Atkinson said that the County Attorney is not going to
prosecute the burglar that was caught over the week-end. Mike
feels that there is sufficient evidence for a conviction, but
apparently the County Attorney's office never took the time to read
it.
Mike thinks that the best thing now is to have the City Attorney
charge him with a misdemeanor which would be a violation of his
• parole.

There will be a meeting tomorrow night at the Laurel Public
Library, 7:00 p.m., regarding neighborhood watch.
Darrell reported that the fire district contracts, except Airport
Authority, are on the council agenda tonight.
The swimming pool will probably open on June 15th.
Chuck met with Jerry Green, National Park Service. They are here
reviewing the Chief Joseph site and trying to gather more
historical data.
Donna reported that some people were disappointed that another
business is in the Old Haus of Realty building on 2nd Avenue. They
were hoping that it would revert back to residential rather than
have an antique shop there.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
EDLI?
