COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Chuck Rodgers Ron Marshall Gay Easton Albert Ehrlick John Minch Donna Kilpatrick Lonnie Kellogg Bob Graham OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie D.L. McGillen Mike Atkinson Vicki Metzger Dave Michael Don Hackmann Lonnie and Bob have received complaints regarding junk cars next to Norman Orr's residence. This has been turned over to the City Attorney. Chuck mentioned that there are pickup bodies on First Avenue also. Ron brought up the problem with the Merchant apartments. The windows should be boarded up. Mike got the address for Jim Martin, • owner, and the City Attorney will write a letter to him. The weeds on the property are also becoming a problem. Donna reported that the deadline for the Fourth of July activities is June 20th. Three new booths have been added since the last report. John reported that Debbie Dewell on East Eighth Street contacted him about a water leak and there is a co-op of people that would like to get it repaired. Letters have been sent to the people and if they don't take care of it within 10 days the City is going to shut the water off. Then they will have to get it fixed. Discussion. Dave said that this is a private line with four residences on it. Mike Atkinson said that the County Attorney is not going to prosecute the burglar that was caught over the week-end. Mike feels that there is sufficient evidence for a conviction, but apparently the County Attorney's office never took the time to read it. Mike thinks that the best thing now is to have the City Attorney charge him with a misdemeanor which would be a violation of his • parole. "I ?ZCA . =r There will be a meeting tomorrow night at the Laurel Public Library, 7:00 p.m., regarding neighborhood watch. Darrell reported that the fire district contracts, except Airport Authority, are on the council agenda tonight. The swimming pool will probably open on June 15th. Chuck met with Jerry Green, National Park Service. They are here reviewing the Chief Joseph site and trying to gather more historical data. Donna reported that some people were disappointed that another business is in the Old Haus of Realty building on 2nd Avenue.
