TREE BOARD
JUNE 2, 2009
DPW CONFERENCE ROOM
The Tree Board met on June 2d, 2009, with Mr. Fred Bicha of the DNRC also present.
Kurt Markegard reported that at Riverside Park, 40 ash trees and the cottonwoods need a lot
of trimming, as do some of the trees in Russell Park. He has had a bid of $4600 from the arborist
Patrick, which he believes is a good price. The Board agreed.
He also reported that two trees have been removed at the cemetery, at the request of the
veterans, and that the Heiken's spraying of the trees there had improved them.
Emelie Eaton reported that the Yellowstone Conservation District wished to place a memorial
tree for Gay Easton in one of the parks. There is an undedicated Burr Oak in Murray Park near
the Easton Bridge_ Mrs. Eaton will ask the Conservation District if that will be acceptable as a
memorial.
The DNRC grant for tree husbandry was discussed. Emelie Eaton has been working on this.
The application on this covers renovations at Riverside Park and improvements at Lion's Park. It
was suggested that the Board invite Lion's Club members to a Board meeting so they will have
some input and understanding of some measures. This application must be completed by
August I",
Discussion followed concerning the tree selection and maintenance conference to be held in
Laurel in the Fall. The date for this was set for October 1, 2, and 3'd. The next meeting will be
held on July 14`', to plan in more detail.
