BUDGET/FINANCE COMMITTEE
OCTOBER 18, 1994 4:30 P.M.
CITY HALL
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman-- Donna Kilpatrick
Ron Marshall Don Hackmann
Bob Graham Gay Easton
OTHERS PRESENT: Mike Atkinson
The committee approved a purchase requisition for the repair of the
transmission on police car #3 in the amount of $497.34.
Discussion regarding the MMIA Liability insurance dividend we
received in the amount of $39,691.00 for the years 1989 & 1990.
Motion by Bob Graham, seconded by Ron Marshall, to set aside
the General Fund's portion of $25,214.41 in a equipment reserve
cash account. Motion carried.
The intent of this reserve is to purchase a police car and computer
equipment from next year's budget (1995-96).
Discussion regarding the Swift Systems LLC proposal for a computer
system at the Police Department, which will cost between $28,000 to
$38,000.
Their current system is too slow and not sufficient.
No decision has been made. Mike would like to send someone to
Dillon and other places that have a system up and running to see if
it would meet our needs. The concern was not to rush into buying
something right away. We budgeted $20,000 in this year's budget,
but it appears that a good system may cost more, and we may
possibly have to wait until next fiscal year. Specs will need to
be written and this will have to be advertised.
Don will check with the Montana League of Cities and Towns to see
if they know of any police computer system packages available.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:52 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
973'-
Don Hackmann
