STREET & ALLEY COMMITTEE

A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by
the committee:
Larry made a motion to have Joe Bradley write to Harlan Lund about
the City not responsible to fix Shannon Road as it is a county road,
seconded by Chuck Dickerson. Motion carried with John Ward abstaining.
Chuck asked if Larry set the grade for the new alley off of 8th Avenue
by Cherry Hill. Larry said-"No" he just had Andy do the job by property
lines and slope of the terrain. Larry said he will go and survey it
and see if its okay.
Larry said he was approached about shooting the grades for the curb
and gutter on W. Beartooth. Larry made motion that the engineer in
charge of that SID or any new ones coming into the City shoot their
. own grades as per City specifications, seconded by Chuck Dickerson.
Motion carried.
Larry said the City may have to build a new alley between lst Avenue
and 2nd Avenue north of-Mountain View Lane. He will check with the
builder building there as there is not.sufficient property to have an
exit at both ends of alley.
Chuck Dickerson recommends that Larry look-into the possibility of
getting a new chipper. All present agree. Chuck Dickerson recommends
that the City look at getting a new street sweeper. All present agree.
Larry will check these out and bring them up at budget time.
Larry stated street sweeping will be on Tuesdays and Fridays starting
at 4:00 a.m. New signs stating the new days are up.
John Ward presented a preliminary proposal the Chamber of Commerce has
about getting a public parking lot in Laurel. By getting some off-street
parking for employees and some shops it will promote shopping in Laurel.
When a plan is finalized it will be presented to the Council at a later
date.
