Members present: Chairman Richard Herr Mel Krug Chuck Dickerson , L. D. Collins, Jim Flisrand. B. Other's present: Campbell Calvert Ernie Davis, Mayor Gauthier, Wayne eese A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: The committee talked with Wayne Reese, Manager of Laurel Coop Station, about the snowplowing around the station. Wayne stated they will try to work with the City in the future. The committee talked over the problems of snow removal and grading. Ernie has talked to people in other cities and people here in Laurel from past workers. There has been proven to be more pavement damage with the snow plowed to the middle of the street and left. There has been proven to be more accidents as a result of the snow plowed to the middle of the street. When that was done in the past there were many more complaints than the way it was plowed so far this year. By a motion from the committee, we recommend to the Council to assess the property owners, as prescribed by law to get the snow cleaning fund increased and to have more funds to buy more equipment to use for snow cleaning or removal. The committee recommends to have Joe Bradley draw up an ordinance regarding snow cleaning and removal as per Alternate #1 plan. Jim will get with Harlan Lund on Shannon Road. Whenever the Mayor finds that falling snow, sleet or freezing rain will create a condition which warrants street cleaning, he is authorized to initiate snow removal procedures. B. Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection A hereof, a snow removal procedure shall automatically go into effect on any part of any snow route, on which there has been an accumulation of snow or ice of four (4) inches or more for one hour or.more between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on any day. 11.13.020 Designation of Snow Removal Routes. It shall be the policy of the maintenance department to clear all streets and avenues that are impassible to general traffic. (streets will be plowed from the center to the sides to allow two-lane traffic--- not removed) 11.13.030 Filling Stations, Parking Lots. It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any filling station, parking lot or other vacant space toblade or shovel the snow from said lot or space into the street, after the street has been cleared of snow by the City maintenance department.
