A quorum of three (3) or more members being present the
following business was conducted;
Jim Worthington informed the committee that H&R Block is
in the process of moving into the Laird building at the north-
west corner of Main Street and Third Avenue. They are asking
to be allowed to construct a combination step and handicap access
ramp into their building. On the diagonal frontage they are
proposing to construct a 5' x 5' platform. On their Main street
frontage they want to build a ramp 22' long for handicap access.
On their Third Street frontage they want construct a standard
set of. steps. All portions of this construction would have
guard rails. Both the steps and ramp would extend onto the
sidewalk 4'. On the Main Street side there would still be 8'8"
of sidewalk and on Third Street there would be 6'8". The
proposed front door platform would extend about one foot farther
out than the steps that are presently in use. Motion made by
Andy Loebe, seconded by Larry Thomas to allow H&R Block to
construct their proposed access. Motion carried.
Mike Atkinson, Acting Police Chief, has requested that
25 MPH signs be place along East Maryland from First Avenue
eastward to the end of the new road construction on that street.
Motion made by Chuck Rodgers, seconded by Ron Marshall to place
25 MPH signs along East Maryland.
Mike Atkinson also requested that a stop sign be placed
on the west side the T&I building where traffic enters East
Maryland from the high school parking lot. Jim said he would
check with school.
