PARK COMMITTEE

A quorum (3 or more) present the. following action was taken by
the committee:
B.N. has offered the City a caboose for display purposes or whatever.
They will transport and install the caboose on a section of track as soon as
we can determine where.The Committee recommended that it be located in the
southwest corner of Thompson Park diagonally behind the monument.The site has
subsequentley been staked out and a dead elm tree removed.Installation should
be made early this week.Future plans call for wiring and landscaping.
The committee also examined a map sketched by Ernie Davis locating the
Legion ballfield area and we feel that there is adequate room to accomadate
the facility without creating any undue hazard to swimmers at the pool or
anyone using the tennis courts.The Committee also recommends that the City
should commit some financial assistane toward the relocation of the field
and eventual installation of restroom facilities,fencing,etc.
