PARK COMMITTEE

A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by
the committee:
.Discussion of horseshoe pits in Kiwanas Park;
Bob Western,Claude Cory,Bobby Gauthier,and Rev.Badilla presented a petition signed
by 25 residents of the area, objecting to the horseshoe pits location.
Objections enumerated were;
1. area not large enough for 6 pits.
2. girls practice softball in that area.
3. only level area in park.
4. do not want tournaments in neighborhood.
5. should be at either end of park.
6. too many pits.
Mr.Wuertz and Mr.Watts rebuttal;
1. approved by Park Committee 12/27/1983.
2. not to be used for tournaments except in emergency.
3. cannot pitch east & west due to sun.
4. park too narrow at east end.
5. hill on west end.
6. approximately $800 invested.
Suggested by Bob Western to relocate it at Murray Park at City's expense if agreeable
with Kiwanas.
The Committee makes no recommendation at this time.
Mike Penne presented plans for developing West Park into 4 Girls Softball fields.
Drainage should be considered.Still a county park.Seeking B.N.funds.
Committee recommends approval of developement.
Park curfew;will meet with Police Chief and City Attorney to came up with a workable
ordinance.
Recreation Director Anne Easton submitted claim for half months pay for August.
Committee approved pay only for hours worked(13) in August.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
