C). Bob Strand requested the tennis courts be closed, from
8 a.m. Saturday, June'25, to dusk, June 26. A tournament,
2? sponsored by the Palace Lanes, will be restricted to Laurel
S residents only.
Milt Wester made the motion, seconded by Ron Faught
that we allow the tennis courts to be closed on June 25 & 26.
Motion carried.
Bob asked that the tennis courts be cleaned and weeds
growing in the gutters be killed. Jim said he thought that could
be done.
Motion by Jim Flisrand, seconded by Ron Faught, that
we charge $ .40 cents per swimming ticket in a book of 20 for
$ 8.00, and that a ticket is required each time a person enters
the pool. Motion carried. ___._-
An individual swimming ticket will costc$ 1.0 Mayor
Gauthier had suggested we charge $ .50 centimes per ticket, and
that due to finances, we open the pool J_x1 and close August
After checking with the Master Plan and possible
restrictions placed by the Fish & Game, the committee granted
permission to Elsie Johnston to start a. bird sanctuary at South
Pond Park. She will check with Jim prior to any planting that
she plans to do and he will stake out where the sanctuary should
be placed.
• Dennis Mogan, of the Laurel Little League, told the
committee that he was unhappy that the EMC baseball team was using
Athletic Field and that his Little League teams had to go to
Billings to play. There is some question as to who gave permission
to use the field and the only thing we learned is that we need a
communication system developed. We are in the process of setting
up a committee to study that problem.
We have advertised for swimming pool personnel and May
20 is the last day for people to apply. We may have to have a
special meeting to look over applications.
Discussion was held on the summer recreation program.
After May 20, we will set up the schedule which will be much
.like last year's offering. All classes we offered last year were
well accepted.
The American Legion wants to place a broadcast booth on
top of the concession stand. However, no representative of that
group has attended a meeting of the park committee to ask
permission.
Patsy Guenthner, representing Girls' Softball, told
of her groups' schedule of games and of the fields that are
currently being used. There is a need for additional fields
and some property owners will, be contacted. to see if portions
of their lands could be used.
Marvin Carter proposed the use of the area. south of
the Middle School gymnasium as tennis courts in perhaps a
joint effort between the schools and the City. The committee
agreed. it was a. good idea but took no action at this time.
Respectfully submitted.,
