Place of Meeting Council Chambers
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman - Donna Kilpatrick

OTHER'S PRESENT:
Gloria Wester Cindy Chapple
Gary Temple
A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken
by the Committee:
Following a request by Cindy Chapple, Luann moved that we
allow the Girls Softball Association to use the softball fields
in Nutting Park for the 1989 season, May 1 to July 30. Motion
carried.
Parking at Nutting Park was discussed. A dangerous situation
exists. Jim will visit with Alan Crowe about posting the west
side of Alder Avenue from Sixth Street north to Seventh Street.
In addition, city-owned property west of the ditch on Alder will
be readied again for a parking lot to be used during the softball
season.
Chuck moved that we accept the request of the Laurel Women
in Business to place a life-sized statue of Chief Joseph on the
Northwest corner of Firemen's Park. Motion carried.
Jim said he would have a sketch of the area where the
proposed statue will be located ready for the council meeting.
The sculpture will be done by Gary Temple and he will speak to
Darrell McGillen to see if the statue will interfere with the
Firemen's Santa!s Workshop scene.
Discussion was also held on a possible site for an ice
skating rink in Thomson Park. Jim will check on several
possibilities and report at the next meeting.
During the busy time of year for the park committee, we
will meet twice a month-- the second and fourth Thursday at
5:30 p.m. in the Council chambers.
Respectfully submitted,
r
Donna Kilpatrick, Chairman n
