HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 01.11.19900 M I N U T E S PARKS Date -January 11 1990 Time 5:30 p.m. Place of Meeting -City Hall 40 MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Chuck Dickerson Jim Flisrand LuAnn Engh OTHER'S PRESENT: Greg Branstetter Doris Armstrong Pat Hart COMMITTEE Donna Kilpatrick Bill Brennen Darrell McGillen Jim Worthington Bob Strand Edna Schwenneker Angie Thom A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken by the Committee: -Motion by Chuck Dickerson, seconded by Bill Brennan, that we allow the Laurel Little League to install a locked gate on the dugouts. in Athletic Field, with the Engineer's approval, to prevent vandals from entering the dugouts. Motion carried. A key to the gate will be provided to the Engineer. Motion b Chuck Dickerson, seconded by Bill Brennan that we allow the Laurel Park Beautification Committee to proceed with the construction of the shelter to put the supporting poles and roof up. Motion carried. The Committee will work with the City Engineer to see what will be the best way to proceed. The Laurel Garden Club asked permission to extend its garden area at Fireman's Park closer to the Chief Joseph statue. Members of the group will meet with Jim Worthington to better layout the extension plan. They also requested the installation of a watering system in some areas of the park and to replace a portion of the hedge that borders the South edge of the park. Plantings would be donated from members' gardens. The requests were taken under advisement to be discussed at the next meeting. The Little League and the American Legion baseball teams would like to work together to run the concession stand in Thomson Park. Alice Branstetter and Charles Peaton, plus one more representative from each group, would work together to manage the stand. They would like to run the stand from 5:00 p.m. until after the games end.beginning April 25th until about August 1st. That would be 7 days a week if there were games each day. No action was taken by the Committee at this time on the proposal. r Bob Strand, representing the tennis-playing public, requested improved maintenance of the tennis courts to include sweeping the courts, killing the weeAs, painting the lines and not allowing irrigation water on the courts.
