Chuck Dickerson opened the meeting by saying the board
had accepted the Legion/Little league's offer on the concession
stand operation. Chuck clarified the issue of the park curfew
of midnight. Peaton said no tournaments are expected to go
past midnight.
Chuck explained that either a flat fee or a percentage
of the concession's profits are to go towards hiring a full
time grounds keeper for the park. Chuck asked the basball
leagues to come up with an offer on this. Both the board
and the representatives of the leagues agreed the fields need
to be well maintained. Although this person would basically
be hired for daytime work , he could be hired separately for
tournaments for between. game clean ups.
The city will provide double sinks, counter tops and a
hot water heater. The leagues would need to remove any of
their equipment at the end of the season to avoid vandelism.
Peaton stated that since the garbage at the field's
is more than a one man job, the leagues would plan to continue
to help clean up the fields after games.
Angie Thom of the garden club arranged to meet with Jim
at the Chief Joseph statue to decide on the location of a
flower bed. Chuck indicated the City council had approved
taking out any old bushes and trees to account for the new
landscaping.
Louis and Maria Zennie asked permission to use Riverside
Park for a family reunion on June 17th - all day. They were told
to contact the police about alcoholic beverages and to observe
the curfew. City council will approve their request Feb. 20.
Cindy Chappell asked permission to use the fields at Nutting
for Carbon County softball league games. They have permission
to use the fields but must bring their schedules in by the end of
April.
Cid Whitcananck asked permission to use Thompson Park for
a 3-class Park City Reunion on Sunday, July 1. Contacting the
police about alcohol and observing the curfew was advised. The
council will approve the request Feb. 20.
Jim will work up an agreement letter and a scheduling system
for people requesting use of the parks by the next meeting.
Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
LuAnne Engh
