COMMITTEE Date March 22, 1990 Time 5:00 p.m. • 0 Place of Meeting MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Jim Worthington Bob Strand OTHER'S PRESENT: CITY HALL Donna Kilpatrick Darrell McGillen A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken by the Committee: We have received -.complaints over the proposed charging of a $10 reservation fee for the shelter in Thomson Park. People have pointed out that the shelter was built with donations and we should not charge a re'Ulral fee- They suggest we wait until the shelter is up and see if any problems arise and then address them. A majority of the Park Committee feel a fee should be charged primarily as a means of control over reservations. What does the Council fee? The committee also recommends that there be no open burning (barbecuing) in the shelter. A more complete list of regulations will be compiled at a later date. Jim gave an update on the shelter progress. Roof beams have been ordered and decking will be ordered locally. It is expected that local contractors will bid on the new concess stand/bathroom building in Thomson Park. The contract has been divided into three sections, footings and slab, block.-walls, interior framing and roof. Motion by Darrell McGillen, seconded by Bob Strand that we allow the American Legion Baseball team to move-the batting tunnel to the north of its present location in the area outside the fence, the east end of Athletic Field. Motion carried. Permission has already been granted to allow the legion team to install a-scoreboard in the right center field in Athletic Field. The Committee had requested that the Legion group send a letter stating the-City would not be responsible for vandalism or upkeep of the sign. That letter is attached to these minutes. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m. Respectively submitted, Donna Kilpatrick f y 0 Charles E.
