PARKS COMMITTEE

A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken
by the Committee:
Gary Waddell, representing Laurel Girls Softball Association
attended to ask permission to erect a permanent back stop in the
southeast corner of Nutting Park. There is already a backstop in the
southwest corner of the park. The Committee members had no
. objection to the proposal.
Gary also asked to use the fields in the Men's Softball
Complex on East 8th Street for possibly the girls and boys
programs. He will check to see if the men's league is still in
existence. The Committee felt the fields should be used.
Jim Worthington reported on the progress of the Concession
stand construction.
The Committee reviewed the applications received for
Manager and Assistant Manager for the swimming pool. There are
no recommendations yet.
We heard a proposal from WATCO concerning a new pool. Phil
Lilleberg said his company would be glad to work with us whenever
we are ready to begin a new pool project. The cost would be
in the neighborhood of $150,000 to $200,000.
The Committee decided to order trees from the Fomst Service
next year and maybe could plant them in cooperation with the
Cemetary. The trees come in lots of 250.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
