PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE
Date Se t. 16, 1991 Time 5.00 P.M.
Place of Meeting Ci Hall
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman- Donna Kilpatrick
Lonnie Kellogg Jim Worthington
OTHER'S PRESENT:
Dave Michael
A quorum (3 or more) present, the following action was taken by
the Committee:
The bathrooms in Thomson Park will be closed during the
week of Monday, September 16th due to vandalism. They will be
opened for the next weekend because the shelter is rented then.
After the 23rd of September the restrooms will be closed for the
season. Restrooms in other parks, Riverside and Russell, will
be closed October 1st.
Tables from the Shelter will be moved to the pool area on
September 23rd.
Vandals had damaged the tables during the summer but Howard.
Thom has recently repaired them.
Jim will ask for a financial statement from the Little League
and the American Legion for the summer concession stand sales. He
will also inform the groups that the restrooms will not open until
May 15th (weather permitting) and lights will not be turned on
Until May 1st. Every year the season begins a little earlier and
makes it difficult to turn on water for the restrooms without a
danger of freezing the pipes.
The base for the flag pole next to the shelter has been dug
and will be poured with concrete as soon as the area dries up.
Permission was given for the YMCA touch football program to
practice in Athletic Field in Thomson Park. Games are played in
Billings but practices are held in Laurel.
Jim is working with the people in High Point Park who are
concerned about the fill that was put in the park from the Maryland
Lane street project. As time permits, the City will work to
improve that problem.
• Exxon Pipeline Co. recently delivered three (3) barbeques
to Riverside Park. These are to show their appreciation for our
help during their recent pipeline bury through the Park. The
units are 14" by 22" steel boxes with flip grates.
