HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 01.03.1995Minutes of the City Council of Laurel January 3, 1995 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Charles Rodgers at 7:00 p.m., on January 3, 1995. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: John Minch Bob Graham Lonnie Kellogg Donna Kilpatrick Gay Easton Chuck Dickerson Ron Marshall Albert Ehrlick COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None INVOCATION: MINUTES: Motion by Alderman Marshall to approve of December 20, 1994 as presented, seconded 8--0. CORRESPONDENCE: None CLAIMS: Invocation was given by Reverend Tim Weidlich. the minutes of the regular by Alderman Minch. Motion meeting carried Claims for the month of December were reviewed by the Budget/Finance and recommended that they be paid. Motion by Alderwoman Kilpatrick to approve $ 272,476.35 for the month of December, seconded carried 8--0. DENISE KLOTTHOR - HOME OCCUPATION: Applicant was not present for the council meeting, place. AMENDING THE LMC - AMBULANCE'COMMITTEE CREATED: ORDINANCE NO. 095-1 AMENDING SECTION 2.76.060 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE, AMBULANCE COMMITTEE CREATED. Motion by Alderman Marshall that Ordinance No. 095-1 passed and adopted, seconded by Alderman Kellogg. A roll call ail aldermen voted, "YES". Motion carried 8--0. AMENDING OF LMC - VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE SERVICE CREATED: ORDINANCE NO. 095-2 AMENDING SECTION 2.76.070 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE, VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE SERVICE CREATED. Motion by Alderman Dickerson that Ordinance No. 095-2 (first reading} be passed and adopted, seconded by Alderman Graham. A roll call vote was taken and ali aldermen voted, "YES". Motion carried 8--0. COMMITTEE MINUTES: --Budget/Finance Committee minutes of December 20, 1994 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderwoman Kilpatrick to enter the Budget/Finance Committee minutes of December 20, 1994 into the record, seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Motion carried 8--0. --City Council Committee of the Whole minutes of December 20, 1994 were presented. Motion by Alderwoman Kilpatrick to enter the City Council Committee of the Whole minutes of December 20, 1994 into the record, seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Motion carried 8--0. Motion carried 8--0. --Laurel Airport Authority minutes of November 3, 1994 and November 22, 1994 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderman Kellogg to enter the Laurel Airport Authority minutes of November 3, 1994 and November 22, 1994 into the record, seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Motion carried 8--0. --Water Plant Steerimg Committee minutes of December 19, 1994 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderman Marshall to enter the Water Plant Steering Committee minutes of December 19, 1994 into the record, seconded by Alderman Easton. Motion carried 8--0. COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE: RICHARD BARNHARDT - COMMENTS Discussion regarding the city's shut off procedure. Richard is asking that the residents be given a last minute notice before their water is turned off. This occurs on monthly shut off days, when residents have water bills that are delinquent. Discussion regarding the agenda for each City Council Meeting. Richard feels the order of the agenda should be God before Country. The order in which the meetings are conducted is the pledge of allegiance and then the invocation is given. APPOINTMENTS: The Mayor reappointed Joe Leckie as City Attorney for a two year period. Motion by Alderman Ehrlick to confirm the appointment of Joe Leckie as City Attorney for a two year period, seconded by Alderman Graham. Motion carried 8--0. MAYOR'S COMMENTS: Mayor Rodgers asked council members to bring any comments from citizens in their wards, regarding what they would like to see done in city parks, cemetery~ etc. Comments for any improvements would be considered when the budgets are done. Alderman Dickerson asked about the trimming of the trees in Kiwanis Park, it was a concern that the tree branches were not picked up. Jim Flisrand said he would look into this. There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:22 p.m. Approved by the Mayor and passed Montana, this 17th day of January, Attest: Donald L.
