PARK COMMITTEE
JANUARY 28, 1993
5:00 P.M. ADJOURN 5:34 P.M.
ATTENDING: Jim Flisrand, Jim Worthington, Gay Easton,
Emelie Eaton, Lonnie Kellogg, Donna Kilpatrick, chairman.
OTHERS: Cindy Chapple
Playground equipment: Jim Worthington explained the need
for upgrading the playground equipment in the parks and
perhaps budgeting some funds for that purpose. Fiberglass
tanks will be used for making sand boxes in Kiwanis Park
and even in other parks if possible.
Riverside Park: The proposed bridge replacement near
Riverside Park may result in a loss of water to the park
for watering purposes. The well in the park will provide
• adequate water for use in the buildings in the park.
• Swimming Pool Passes: The committee recommends leaving the
prices of the pool pass and the individual swim the same as
last year--$10 for twenty tickets or $1 per individual
swim.We also recommend asking Ann Easton if she again will
serve as recreational director this summer.
Tri Valley Girls Softball League. Gay Easton moved, Jim W.
seconded that we allow the girls team to use the Softball
complex for practices and home games if the schedule is
worked out in cooperation with the Laurel Girls Softball
Association. Motion carried.
Discussion, but no action was taken on the following
subjects:
the fence around the South Pond near the overpass area;
The Western Pond which could possibly be used for a holding
pond for smaller fish; and the possibility of receiving
railroad ties for use as road barriers or markers in
certain parks.
Officers of the Little League and American Legion Baseball
team will be invited to the next Park Committee meeting,
Feb. 23. to discuss the summer baseball season.
