Motion carried. Jim will direct the placement of the track so as not to interfere with the sprinkler heads in the area. Perkins checked earlier with the Legion and Little League personnel and during that time of year there is no conflict with their programs. Motion by Emelie Eaton, seconded by Gay Easton, to permit the Herbstfest to use the graveled area west of Athletic Field between the swimming pool and Eighth Street to have a 8-mule pack team with two horses. The animals would be there during the day only. The U.S. Forest Service will be providing the animals and will have demonstrations for packing animals as well as what they use the pack animals for during fires. The Herbstfest will be September 25th and 26th. Motion carried. Permission was granted to move the underground water line further into Firemen's Park because the present location is too 'close to the hedge. Also, the line is leaking in the far southeast portion of the line and that will be replaced. The City will trench the area and the garden club members will furnish the needed portion of the water line. The Club is still bothered with finding dog feces near their garden area and would like the sign placed in the park encouraging people to pick up after their animals. They suggested providing a dog run area like those provided in rest areas in the state. There is interest by one group to improve the South Pond Park by placing a pump in the pond and providing trees and shrubbery for the area. n ?J J?.,4 Motion by Gay Easton, seconded by Emelie Eaton, that we accept the contract for the running of the concession stand with the Laurel Little League and the American Legion Baseball team.
