Bob distributed the Mayor's status report dated June 16, 1987.
Bob reported that the summer street maintenance work has begun, and the swimming
pool is now open.
Bob handed out copies of the 1987-88 preliminary budget for review and comment
at the next council meeting. This preliminary budget will be adopted on July
21st along with the preliminary tax resolutions. Changes can be made up to
that time.
Donna Kilpatrick thanked Bob for all his hard work on the budget.
Bob announced that he would like the council to stay after the council meeting so
he can inform them about whats going on in the negotiation meetings.
Larry Herman attended a training seminar and has offered to tell the council
about it.
Jim Flisrand reported that he attended a CDBG workshop in Livingston last Friday.
He met with the review board regarding our last application for a Fire truck.
They weren't very encouraging about fire truck applications since they aren't
real competitive with other applications that have health hazards and have State
agencies backing them. They suggested we check all different options of other
funding. Possibly an Economic Development Grant. That money can be turned
around and when its paid back to the city it can be used for any eligible item,
which is a fire truck.
Cal Cumins also reported on this and stated how difficult he felt it would be to
get the grant for a fire truck since it needs to be tied to low and moderate
income. He feels we should give serious consideration to the Economic development
proposal. Even if we don't get funded.. we should pursue it. That's where your jobs
and future economy come from.
Meeting adjourned. at 6:50 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sharon Herman
Deputy City Clerk
