Collins Chuck Dickerson OTHERS PRESENT: Alan Crowe Peg Kamerzel Dave Michael Pat Metzger Ernie Davis Don Hackmann Bob distributed the Mayor's status report dated 6/21/88. Bob mentioned that the 1988-89 preliminary budget will be distributed on July 5th. 0 Jim Flisrand will not be at the Council meeting tonight. The Walter's water line on Lindy Lane and under the interstate has been completed. Norman Orr reported that the BN Rail Plant wasn't notified before the water was shutt off, which could cause some problems. Ernie said it was due to the lack of communications and that it won't happen again. The City met yesterday with EPA regarding the Volk Construction Co. arbitration. Volk hasn't done anything on this for a year and the City's attorney recommended to just leave it that way. Something may be done this fall. EPA may not Rind any additional costs. We have had lots of water breaks lately, possibly due to high water consumption. During the past week water consumption has been running about 3? million gallons a day. The East (Mossmain) bridge is now open. It was suggested that a letter be sent to COP Construction thanking them for expediting the project so that it could be opened by the 4th of July. Bob gave an update on the complaint filed by Mrs. Devener regarding the Cantrell fence. Bob Graham said he has contacted Stan Langve to cut the hay and • weeds in Cherry Hills and the Cantrell property. The new East Main lift station should be completed by Friday. An agreement has been worked out with the County to do an overlay project on 12th Street and also some chip sealing on 13th & 14th. Bruce Teeters said that alot of reference has been made about the American Legion ball team, park and the problems they are having. Everything has been written up as American Legion and all they are using is their name. The organization itself is not really involved. The ball park fence was mentioned. Jim was able to get some webbing (new chain link) for about $ 1400. The Legion said they would split the cost. The donated fence is pretty rusty and by the time you get through sandblasting and painting and further maintenance the cost would be pretty high. Discussion on installing the rusty chain link fence up at the dump. However, the Airport Authority would like the dump closed so they can get a grant for airport expansion and improvements. Apparently the FAA is concerned about the birds in the dump. There have been several swimming pool complaints regarding the policy change that a ticket is required each time someone enters the pool. Last year when a swimmer left the pool, their hand. was stamped so they could enter again without another ticket. This will be discussed at the Park Committee meeting on Thursday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. Peg reported that the $ 1.00 daily fee charged at the pool has been running at about $ 100 a day. The tickets that people had left over from last year are not good for this year. The pool has reached the limit of 250 people on several days. The meeting was adjourned at 6:52 p.m. Respectfully submitted, pv-?? Donald L. Hackmann City Clerk 0 0
