CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

Bob distributed and reviewed the 1988-89 preliminary budget. The
preliminary budget along with the tax resolutions will be on the
• July 19th agenda.
Union negotiations are still going on and the next meetings are
scheduled for July 13th and 14th.
Bob thanked the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department for their 4th
of July activities. Everything seemed to go real well.
Discussion regarding general business licenses. A question came
up regarding a business with a permanent address putting up a
temporary stand at a different location. Bob will check with Joe
Bradley on this.
Discussion regarding watering the Parks. Possibly hire temporary
help or use volunteer help for watering the smaller parks around
town. Another suggestion was to use community service help.
However, supervision is still required and they cannot drive City
vehicles.
Discussion regarding cutting weeds in the Cantrell area. Mr.
Langve has not cut the weeds because the property owners have not
been contacted yet to get their permission to go on their property.
Ernie Davis reported that Dennis Johnston, Big Sky Haul-Away, has
sold out to B.F.I., Inc. They are the second largest solid waste
company in the world.
