HomeMy WebLinkAboutCommittee of the Whole Minutes 12.19.1989.j ?J MINUTES CITY COUNCIL CXMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE Date December 19, 1989 Time 6:30 p.m. Place of Meeting Council Chambers It was suggested that the Police Committee minutes regarding 24 hour gambling be reviewed prior to the Council meeting. Dave Michael gave an update on the museum roof. He is still checking with the Contractor. Chuck Dickerson welcomed Jim Worthington as the new Director of Public Works. Bob Graham brought a couple of items to the attention of the Street and Alley Committee. 1. No "U" Turn sign needs to be put up on SE 4th Street by Fitchner Chevrolet. 2. Need a stop sign at 9th St. & 6th Avenue. Bob's neighbors want to know when this is going to be done. 0 Members present: Chairman Ron Marshall (late) Bruce Teeters Bob Graham Chuck Dickerson Others present: Joe Bradley (late) Alan Crowe Peg Kamerzel Don Hackmann Bob Gauthier (late) Chuck Rodgers L.D. Collins Donna Kilpatrick D.L. McGillen Jim Worthington Dave Michael Cheryl Marshall The Updated Committee list was discussed. There may be some changes after the January 2nd Council meeting. Chuck Rodgers mentioned that a bid was received from Merle Cherry Construction for remodeling the Police Station for approximately $8,900. This price does not include electrical and air conditioning. This needs to be reviewed with Merle Cherry. Y Page 2 City Council Committee of the whole meeting of December 19, 1989 Chuck Dickerson wanted to know if a letter had been sent to the insurance company asking why they haven't paid the bill for the Fire Department services. Bob Guathier said that he is still working on the letter. Snow removal has been delayed due to the grader being in need of repairs. Chuck Dickerson encouraged everyone to review the Correspondence and Committee reports before the Council meeting. Discussion regarding the power grip plant that is proposing to come to Laurel. Several people are going to Wolf Point on Friday, December 22nd to tour the existing plant to get some idea of the odors, noise, etc. Discussion regarding the Cantrell property de-annexation. Joe Bradley gave a codification update. There is alot of work to be done and he doesn't have the extra time to do it. He would like some help.
