Bob Gauthier distributed the Police activity report for
February.
The drain ditch in Nutting Park will be culverted. The
County will provide the culverts and the City will install them.
The City will be getting bids for construction of the rest
rooms and concession stand at Thomson Park.
There are maintenance problems at the new WWTP. The chain
broke on the grid. It has been replaced, but then other problems
have been discovered that will cost about $10,000.00 to repair.
Warranties have expired on the equipment.
The Ambulance is having problems with some of their portable
radios. They will be purchasing 6 new ones and part of the
expenditures will come fron the 1989-90 budget and the balance
from the 1990-91 budget.
The City has received a temporary permit from the state to
operate a transfer site. We have room for about a month to
six weeks of dumping in our pit, and the City does-not want to
go through the expense of digging a new one.
The Garbage Committee is still looking at trucks to haul
garbage from a transfer site. The debate is whether to buy a
used truck for a total cost of $30,000 to $40,000 or a new one
for a total cost of $60,000 to $80,000.

Discussion regarding the Volk Construction claim. Representative
Marlenee has been contacted to assist the City in working with
the EPA so we can get this claim resolved.
Jim Worthington reported that he and Chuck Rodgers attended
a traffic seminar in Butte last week. They acquired a used
radar gun from the state, at no cost.
The Laurel Women in Business want to guy 8 garbage containers
to be placed in the Laurel downtown area. They are on the agenda
tonight to discuss their proposal.
Bob Graham mentioned that Pat Simcox is organizing a basket-
ball game of Laurel players against the Harlem Crowns, which is
the "B" squad of the Harlem Glovetrotters. The game is scheduled
for April 26th, 6:30 p.m., at the High School. Anyone interested
in playing should contact Pat.
Discussion regarding the mess in Fred Winters' backyard.
Bob Gauthier will get together with Joe Bradley. It was mentioned
that there are other yards in the same condition.
Joe mentioned that the Resolution of Intent for de-annexation
of the Cantrell property is on the agenda tonight. This starts
the process all over again. If it passes then a Public Hearing
will be held May 1st.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Hackmann
City Clerk
