Bob reported that we have been doing some street work this
summer.
is Bob stated that we have started hauling our garbage to
Billings and. the transfer site should be ready to open up shortly.
Bob also reported that Maryland Lane has been opened from
Washington Avenue east to Alder.
Discussion regarding the landfill and that we are going to
have to put about 18" of topsoil on it. We could. rent a scraper
for about $1,800 to $3,000 per week or we could buy a used one
for about $9,500. We are looking into having our mechanic and
one other mechanic check it over. Another alternative is to have
the crew do the work using the Bomag, loader and. trucks, but
this would take quite awhile. The last time we covered the
landfill we contracted it out and it cost us about $20,000.
Ron Marshall asked about selling the Bomag and using the
proceeds to buy the scraper. -T-t was stated that we would need the
Bomag until we get out of the garbage business and then we can
sell it.
Bob Graham stated that after we get through with the scraper
at the landfill we could rent it to other departments within the
City for removing weeds and such.
Bob stated that the 4th of July Committee will have their
first meeting on Monday, September 24th.
