for hiring a new patrolman.
Jim Worthington reported that the underpass has been cleaned
up with the help of the Highway department. Two of the lights
were also replaced.
Chuck Rodgers thanked Jim and the crew for getting the
grease spill sanded so quickly which happened on Pennsylvania
between E. Main and. E. First. Jim said they found out who did
it, and a bill for $50 will be sent to them for sanding costs.
The Police helped locate the party responsible for the spill.
Darrell McGillen reported on the structure fire on Friday,
January 31st, south of Laurel. Upon responding it was discovered
later that the fire was outside of Fire District #8. Due to the
severity of the fire and not knowing about life safety at the time,
Darrell made the decision to proceed to the fire. When the
Joliet fire department arrived, the fire was turned over to them
and Laurel's crew returned back to town.

Over the week-end the Joliet Fire Department brought in the
state Fire Marshall and Rob Harris and Darrell had the opportunity
to spend some time with him going over the fire and some other
situations within the city limits of Laurel. Darrell said it was
a very informative week-end and they learned alot. They were
advised of some things which come about in Laurel that they
were not aware of and they are waiting for a report from the
State Fire Marshall.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Hackmann
