McGillen Mike Atkinson Vicki Metzger Dave Michael Sharon Herman Mike Atkinson reported that one of the Police Reserve officers may be let go. Donna Kilpatrick reported that the people in the High Point Park area are very upset. Someone told them that the asphalt that was dumped out there was going to pollute their water. The County Weed Control office told them that the weed problem was the city's and that we should cut the weeds. They also feel that since the ground was leveled it has created a drainage problem. It was stated that this is in the County and is not in the city's jursdiction.. Donna also reported that the kids are ruining the tables in the picnic shelter at Thomson Park. They are running their skate boards across the top and jumping from table to table. Gay Easton reported that Dave Michaels, Chuck Rodgers and himself went to Forsyth to look at their garbage site. He was very impressed with their operation. He stated that we need to take a good hard look at our garbage situation and possibly hire an architect to help us with the transfer site. L.D. Collins stated that he thinks we need to put our priorities into the closing of the landfill. We need to put as many men up there as we can to get the dirt moved, fences down and get it covered up. L.D. stated that he was also of the opinion that if we check into it we may be able to set up a burning pit for limbs. Dave Michaels stated that the last day for the swimming pool will be Saturday, August 22nd. Dave reported that we have two of our crew members off on sick leave and our crew is real limited right now. We need to hire some tempory help for a few weeks to help out at the landfill. • Chuck asked all committee chairmen to please get their minutes to Cheryll as soon as possible after the meetings and try not to wait until the last minute. Chuck gave a report on Jim Worthington and stated that we should know more by next week after he has some more tests. I r • Chuck reported that the building inspector from the State was here today and gave us a rundown on our roof situation outside the city limits. We now have to classify each one of these building as to the type of occupancy they are being used for and once that is determined that will decide what type of roof is put back on. We cannot just go back to the type of roof that was on there. This may cause some added expense that we were not planning on. The meeting was adjourned at 6:58 Respectfully submitted, Sharon Herman Deputy City Clerk 11 0
