Darrell McGillen reported that Fox Lumber Company was granted a
business license in lieu of a fire inspection. Darrell has been
meeting with these people on a regular basis and they are in the
process of getting bids to repair or replace the sprinkling system.
(Boise Cascade Building)
Darrell gave them permission to move lumber into the building. He
is giving them time to resolve the sprinkling system problem.
Fire District contracts should be ready by next council meeting.
Mike Atkinson reported that Melanie Watts, Relief Dispatcher, has
resigned effective 5-1-93, to take a full time position with a TV
station.
Leonard Fitchner would like to know the next time there is a
Parking or Street and Alley committee meeting. He would like some
"No U-Turn" signs and "Two-Hour Parking" signs in his area. Albert
Ehrlick will contact him for the Street and Alley Committee meeting
on April 15th.
Gay Easton mentioned that he attended a meeting on "Keep America
Beautiful", regarding recycling. He said that he would like to
follow up on this when they have their next meeting.
Jack Bayne informed Gay that there will be a flyover at the Airport
on June 12th.
Discussion regarding pot holes.
L.D. Collins reported that a request will be made at the Council
meeting tonight to hold a Bike-a-Thou around Kiwanis Park on
Saturday, April 17th at 9:00 a.m. This will benefit St. Jude's
Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ron Marshall mentioned that the railroad has been pretty good
i
lately about not blocking crossings on the south side of town.
However, the other day he noticed that the train from the south
likes to creep up and sit by Rapid Tire. All three crossings were
blocked. About the only solution to keep this from happening is to
call them and let them know.
Dave reported that a load-cell has been installed on one of our
garbage trucks. Another one will be installed on a truck next
week.
Bright and Beautiful clean up day is May 1st and alley clean up is
scheduled for May 3rd-7th.
Jim reported on the same meeting that Gay went to regarding
recycling.
Jim has done some research regarding no U-turn and parking on South
4th. He has received some information from the Highway Department
and he will bring this to the Street and Alley committee meeting on
April 15th.
Chuck commended the city crew for cleaning up the business area.
Discussion regarding big trucks parking by Triangle Park.
Chuck said that the old Library building is still being considered
for remodeling.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:49 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Hackmann
