MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
APRIL 20, 1993 6:30 P.M.

Albert reported that just south of the Methodist Church the City
did some street patching and made a real mess of it. He thought
the City could do a better job. Jim agreed with Albert and he said
that it is the first one they will repair. Discussion regarding
9th Street, just off of First Avenue. Jim said it will be chip
sealed.
L.D. Collins reported that the land swap proposed and reported in
the Public Utilities Committee was tabled until the appraisal is
completed.
Ron said that there was a lady at the Public Utilities Committee
meeting that wanted water service (608 S. Yellowstone Avenue, which
is in the County). L.D. Collins said that there is a private line
that serves that area and she should contact the owners of that
line.
Jim presented a report of the 1990 Census by Wards within the City
(see attached). This has to do with a state law that requires the
City adopt the boundaries of the Wards in regards to population.
This was done with the 1980 Census and has to be done again using
the 1990 Census. With the population in the Wards as shown for
1990, it is recommended that no change in ward boundaries be made
at this time.
Mike Atkinson reported that he has preliminary approval from the
9-1--1 people in Helena to remodel the dispatch area at a cost of
about $20,000.
