Dear City Council Members:
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce would like to request permission to hold the annual Grand
Parade on Sat July 4, 2009, at 11:am. The parade will begin line-up on 7th and 8th. We will
ask the Laurel Police Department to lead the parade.
The parade route will be as follows: Beginning on 7th and running up to and turning onto Penn.
Ave . Turning left onto 1St Street and then turning right onto 1st Ave. Continue to and turning
left onto 7th St, turning right on 3'd Ave, right again on 9th Ave and into the Laurel High School.
*We would also like to request permission to hold the annual Chief Joseph Run on July 4, 2009
at 7 a.m. Registration for this 8-mile run, 4-mile run, 2-mile run, 4-mile walk, and 2-mile walk
will be set up at Thomson Park at 6:00 a.m. The runners will begin at the park, travel north on
First Avenue, turn around at the different water stations, and end back at Thomson Park.
Awards will be given out at the park at 8 a.m. We will have people set up for traffic control and
will put the barricades up at the park upon completion of the race.
If more information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber office at
628-8105. No response is needed if you are in agreement with these plans. If you are not in
agreement, please contact the office as soon as possible.
