MEMBERS PRESENT: Smith, Bradley, AvAlt1r, eL4 .4r MEMBERS ABSENT: t 0*-r, -r 40"A& OTHERS PRESENT: Jerry Cantrell, Larry Herman, Cal Cumin, others Cherry Hills Second Filing Subdivision Vacation/De-annexation Public Hearing: Jerry Cantrell, with Larry Herman as his attorney, requested the 62 lots still unsold and undeveloped in Cherry Hills Subdivision Second Filing be vacated and de-annexed from the City of Laurel. His reasons were taxes and fear of liability if someone gets hurt. He • wants to fence it (with barbed wire) and run cattle on the land. The County Assessor has allowed the site to be taxed as Agriculture rather that Suburban Tracts. Discussion from audience regarding cattle getting through the fence and having barbed wire to contend with. Cumin said that if the request is approved, Cantrell should be re- quired to replat the property to reflect the change, that the various utility companies approve the action, that a current title report be prepared and reviewed by the City Attorney, that the Laurel Depart- ment Heads approve the action, and that the recommendation be for- warded to the County Commission as well as the City Council. The Board so moved. Bradley suggested that having the utility companies sign the amended plat since they have an interest in the property would be one way to do it. Arnold Capen, Home Occupation: Request to grant a Home Occupation for automobile repair at 519 Elm Street. It was noted that Mike's Car Repair is across the alley from this location. Board moved to recommend denial to the City Council because it did not meet the minimum standards is of the Home Occupation Ordinance guidelines. City of Laurel is an EEO Employer City of Laurel I • Temporary Sign Ordinance Public Hearin : No one was present for any input to the ordinance. Bra ey asked that Cumin provide a definition for "temporary sign" for the ordinance. Board moved to recommend approval to the City Council. Next Meetin : Cumin requested the January meeting be delayed one week as he wil be out of the State. Board approved. Next meeting will be January 21, 1988. Board Ad 'orned. 0
