Cherry Hills Second Filing Subdivision Vacation/De-annexation Public
Hearing: Jerry Cantrell, with Larry Herman as his attorney, requested
the 62 lots still unsold and undeveloped in Cherry Hills Subdivision
Second Filing be vacated and de-annexed from the City of Laurel. His
reasons were taxes and fear of liability if someone gets hurt. He
• wants to fence it (with barbed wire) and run cattle on the land. The
County Assessor has allowed the site to be taxed as Agriculture rather
that Suburban Tracts.
Discussion from audience regarding cattle getting through the fence
and having barbed wire to contend with.
Cumin said that if the request is approved, Cantrell should be re-
quired to replat the property to reflect the change, that the various
utility companies approve the action, that a current title report be
prepared and reviewed by the City Attorney, that the Laurel Depart-
ment Heads approve the action, and that the recommendation be for-
warded to the County Commission as well as the City Council.
The Board so moved.
Bradley suggested that having the utility companies sign the amended
plat since they have an interest in the property would be one way to
do it.
Arnold Capen, Home Occupation: Request to grant a Home Occupation for
automobile repair at 519 Elm Street. It was noted that Mike's Car
Repair is across the alley from this location. Board moved to recommend
denial to the City Council because it did not meet the minimum standards
is of the Home Occupation Ordinance guidelines.
