The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy announced March 26, 2009 the availability of
additional funding through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program.
Funds from the newly passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will be directed to the
Program in order to address the energy consumption and efficiency of states, municipalities and Indian
tribes.
"The [Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant] Program provides federal grants
to units of local government, Indian tribes, states, and territories to reduce energy use and
. fossil, fuel emissions, and for improvements in energy efficiency. The EECBG Program is
administered by the O#ce of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs in the
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy " (Department of Energy).
The Department of Energy has posted its announcement and application guidelines on the government-
wide electronic grants website: http://www.grants.g_ov. You can search for the downloadable application
package for this program by CFDA number: 81.128. Then, download a copy of the application package,
complete it offline, and upload and submit the application on the grants website.
As a member of the Douse--Energy and Water-Appropriations Subcommittees I have-a seat at-the table-in
promoting state-of-the-art research at the Department of Energy that will help us invent our way into a
more secure energy future. This includes providing incentives, such as grants and loans, to local
governments across Montana to encourage technological developments in the energy sector.
Thank you for your service. Please don't hesitate to contact my office if you are in need of assistance with
your application or to request a letter of support.
Sincerely,
Denny Rehberg
