for all the hard work we do and the individualized attention we show each
patron.
Circulation Report
Traffic for February 2009 was up 18.6% over February 2008. Circulation for
materials was down 9.6% from February 2008. Circulation of books alone
was down 12.1 % over last February. The biggest increase in circulating items
was again in media - 3.9%. There were also 750 internet computer users for
the month of February and 28 children's computer users. The total computer
use is up 2.6% from January 2009 (3.1% for internet computers). City
residents account for 63.3% of our library card holders, county residents 31%
and non-resident card holders 5.7%. The increase in traffic and internet use is
a possible representative of the continuous job searches and frail economy.
Old Business
Nancy, and possibly Clair, will attend the Federation meeting in Big Timber
on March 21st. Bruce felt he may be able to attend as well. Report at next
library board meeting.
Nancy is still working on the Collection Management Policy. When the CMP
is finished it will be emailed to all board members for review.
Nancy reported that she hired two new employees: Chris Erb and Jenny
Roberts. Their start date was March 11, 2009. Both Chris and Jenny appear to
be enthusiastic about their job and are very willing to learn new duties.
The budget worksheets have been turned into the Clerk/Treasurer's office.
Nancy is waiting to hear about budget meeting schedules. When she is
notified of the meeting dates and times, she will contact all board members so
they may decide if they would like to attend the meetings also.
New Business
The MLA annual conference is scheduled April 23 - 25, 2009. Nancy is
planning on attending the conference (weather permitting) in Kalispell. Nancy
has received notification that she is eligible for a travel grant valued at
$150.00. This grant will be sent after she attends the conference in Kalispell.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has not issued any information about
their latest grants.
The Laurel Women in Business will host their annual Easter Play and Egg
Hunt at the library on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at lpm.
