the Committee:
The Committee reviewed the following 1992-93 preliminary
budgets:
Director of Public Works
Street Department- General Fund
Street Department- State Gas Tax
• Snow Removal
Sweeping
Solid Waste
The Committee recommends buying a new pickup from the State
Gas Tax Fund, (budgeted item) this fiscal year, for the City
Engineer/Director of Public Works, who is responsible for street
and alley maintenance. His current pickup would be transferred
to the Animal Control Officer and her pickup would be transferred
to the City Shop.
The assessment for snow removal and/or plowing would remain
the same as last year.
The assessment for street sweeping would remain the same as
last year.
It was recommended to apply for a loan for approximately
$100,000 for landfill closure, containers, loader, and a building
at the transfer site. Jim Worthington is working on this with
Jerry Thomas of GEO Research, Inc.. There is a possibility that
the Board of Investments, INTERCAP Revolving Program would lend
money for these types of things. The current interest rate is
4.95%.
. A garbage rate increase of .50? per unit may be needed
sometime next fiscal year to help pay off the loan which could
run five to ten years.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
