Members present: Chairman Donna Kilpatrick L. D. Collins Elaine Riesrnger zc etzger Glenda Kaufman Steve Duganz , Dennis Paxinos 4ndy Jamison Scott Stanaway Joe Bradley Jim isran B. Other's present: Ross Kaufman A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: An inspection report was read from Deputy State Fire Marshal Tom Selleck. Joe Bradley will check with Mr. Selleck on whether naptha can be stored within 500 ft. of a residential area. Joe Bradley reported he had no success in locating a local chemical engineering firm to analyze the plant's operation. However, Mr. Duganz said he had called Ed Waddington, now of Tuscon, AZ., who would be willing to look at the plant. Mr. Bradley will contact Mr. Waddington. Scott stanaway said the possibility of his client sharing the cost of the chemical engineer would "not be negotiable." Building permits do not include all the improvements the company has made. Three building permits were issued for a total valuation of $220,685, but the company has said its investment here is sub- stantially more. Mr. Stanaway asked if his client purchased all the required building permits, would it still be asked to move? Mr. Bradley explained that the improvements are there and a building permit is necessary for each, but that the situation could be reviewed. The company agreed to get a building permit for a charcoal filter currently being installed at the plant and that any change, modifi- cation, or addition to the plant be run through the city's building department. In addition, the company agreed to submit plans on how the entrance and exits would be modified to prohibit trucks from running over sidewalks, curbs, etc., when entering and exiting the plant, and to present evidence of the company's attempt to inform their customers employees to keep after-hours noise to a minimum. Mr. Stanaway reported his client had checked with the insurance company on the testing of residues that have accumulated on homes in that area. And, although the tests are inconclusive, the residue seems to be from bird droppings, insects, etc. The committee asked that the company contact Burlington Northern concerning a possible lease agreement to transfer the plant to BN property in the Mossmain Industrial Site. The committee will ask Mayor Gauthier for a statement of purpose for the committee. The next meeting will be April 9, 2 pm in Council Chambers. respectful submitted, Donn K pa ick, Chairman ?+a a, .1)
