ASPHALT SUPPLY REVIEW COMMITTEE
DATE May 7, 1986 TIME 2 pm
PLACE OF MEETING City Hall
A. Members present: Chairman Donna Kilpatricx
Andy Jamison Dennis Paxinos Dick Metzger Steve Duganz
Glenda au man oe Bradley
B. Other's present: Kathleen Behm
A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by
the committee:
Joe Bradley reported on contacting Ed Wadington, a chemical engineer,
but said that Mr. Wadington would have to view the plant; and as long
as Asphalt Supply Co. has said it is not interested in assisting with
the funding for Mr. Wadington's expenses, there is no need to pressure
that.
He also reported Tom Selleck, Deputy State Fire Marshal, said that
storing naptha within 500 ft. of a residential area is not in viola-
tion as long as it. is not in a portable tank.
Scott Stanaway reported he had checked with a realtor and that the
. Burlington Northern has sold off its holdings in the Mossmain Industrial
Park. He asked if the committee had any other land sites the company
could consider for relocation. But later in the meeting it was dis-
covered that the "Y" area there is still owned by BN and could possibly
be leased by Asphalt Supply. Mr. Stanaway will check into that. A
map was supplied to him to see what area was being discussed and also
to see if the land east of 5th Avenue could be used to park trucks
while waiting to load.
Mr. Stanaway said the letter will be sent this week asking truckers
to keep the noise down. The company was meeting with the tank mover
today to get a bid on moving the tanks.
The collapsible lid is in place and needs to be checked by Mr. Selleck.
Building permits for the charcoal filter and other added equipment is
also needed.
For the next meeting, May 21st, the company will report on bids for
moving the tanks, on an alternate site, and on building permits.
The lease currently held by the railroad is an annual one and it would
be advantageous for an alternate site. If the residents continue to
complain this committee needs to know if the company is actually
making an effort to relocate.
