MAIN STREET Members present: Shirley McDermott, Dirk Frickel, Bill Kampfer, Daniel Klein, Dean Rankin Advisors present: Steve Solberg Others present: James Caniglia, Emily Eaton (City Council) To be confirmed at Tuesday City Council as advisors are Janice Lehman, Steve Zeier, Steve Solberg, Steve Diefenderfer Questions for property owners and plan were prepared and sent to all members to be reviewed and finalized for the next meeting. Also, members will be divided up in pairs to meet face to face with property owners. James will get stats for owners to know where the TIF district stands and other vital items. Discussion over the grain elevator to be promoted and used as a revenue producing entity will be hampered by the distance the sewer line is away form the property. We also understand the sewer lines are not run to the south side of main but this issue should be addressed to have them be stubbed off during the work to be done this summer on the street and sidewalks. The light poles will also be taken down and we don't know what will be put in their place if anything. Discussion was on the trash receptacles, planters and cigarette butt containers to work with Laurel Alive on their fiberglass Locomotives, artists to decorate and finally fundraising to pay for the Locomotives. Quotes will be requested from Rob Harris and Greg Nelson for the fiberglass forms. James tells up if the cost is over $5,000 we have to get multiple bids for the council to approve. Also, on daily and weekly emptying needs to be discussed further to arrive at a solution. James said he would contact Cody to see how they put together their "Bears" and who takes care of them weekly. James will go in front of City Council to 1. see if this is what they have in mind for this Agency to be doing 2. what further do they expect As for the placing of the Caboose and the Welcome sign Joanne at the Chamber is waiting for the quote for additional insurance to satisfy the railroad as the Caboose will be going on their property. A Motion was mad by Daniel to prepare costs and logistics to present to city council to finalize the Caboose placement. Dirk seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Immediately contact larger businesses in the area to have them get involved and know of the needs of this Agency as well as how we can help meet their needs. TIF projects that are on the foremost in our minds are: 1. Locomotive trash, planter and cigarette receptacles. 2. Locate and finish the Caboose Welcome sign. 3. Expand our thinking to larger projects to enhance business for the area.
