ore) present the-following action was taken by Hoppel,
Gail E. Gunter, Nolan E. Gunter and John Voogt.
1) The curb and drain problem at the Jehovah's Witness Church on West
4th was discussed with John Voogt, Frank Wheeler and Roger Bare.
A motion by Mel Krug to have Larry Peterson shoot the grade, have
them change the curb to City codes. Larry is to check the forms
for proper grade before they pour the cement this time. Second
by Chuck Dickerson. Motion carried. The church was given 30 days
to do the job through completion. Any further problems with the
drainage should there be any will be discussed later.
2) Earl Gordon, Osmund Hallen, Don Hoppel and Nolan Gunter all com-
plained about improper drainage-on East Maryland. Mel recommended
we study the-problem and see what can.be done to take care of it.
Second by Chuck Dickerson. Motion carried. The people. said they
have had this problem for years now as all the rain runoff comes
down Montana Avenue and across Maryland and all over their property.
3) After talking to Joe Bradley,.Mel motioned to allow Chip Watts to
pave the alley joining his trailer park at 1303 E. 6th. Heis to
work with Larry to see that the alley is put in according to City
codes and is to be-chip sealed within one year of paving. The City
will maintain the alley as it does any other paved alley. Second
by Bob Kettenring. Motion passed.
4) Larry reported S.1D.108 is completed. He found 8 or 9 bad spots that
need to be redone and says he will not recommend payment until they
are fixed.
5) More talk about Shannon Road. Mel made a motion to get Harlan Lund,
the County Commissioners, Joe Bradley, Larry Peterson, Dave Michael,
the Mayor and. City Council to set together at a special-meeting to
hash this problem out once and for all as the problem has been bounced
around too much now. Second by Larry Peterson. Motion carried.
6) Mel received a letter of resignation from-the committee from John
Ward. Larry-motioned to accept it, second by Chuck. Carried.
Larry is to ask Pat to send a thank you to John for his time. He
has been transferred to Seattle, Washington.
7) Andy gave a report on the progress in the street work and how they
are doing the work according to the priority list that he and Dave
Michael made up. We want to spread the money evenly as to have
money available to start chipping earlier in 85.
8) Bob talked to the State people about So. 1st Ave. They will let him
know later on the State's position on-the speed limit. Bob suggested
that Alan Crowe be contacted about moving the 25 mph sign a little
farther south and to see about patrolling South 1st Avenue more.
9) Tom Poindexter was present about West 7th Street west of 8th
Avenue. Larry is to figure a cost for burying the ditch and
building a.gravel street. The owner of Sprucegrove wants to
expand and will pay his share of burying the ditch. Tom Poin-
dexter said he wouldn't pay any for burying the ditch. Tom
was asked to appear at-the August 7th Council meeting if he
wishes. Larry is to have the cost of the materials and labor at
that time.
10) Bruce Lefler and Dennis Frickel asked about wearing tank tops
and shorts on the job when it is hot. They state if the garbage
truck people could that they should be able to. There is to be
more things to check out on this request so they were told NO
at this time.
11)
Chuck brought up the mosquito problem and talked about spraying
for them. Larry is to check with a few other cities on how they
handled the problem.. Chuck made a motion to print a questionnaire,
maybe on the water bill or in the Outlook, to take a poll from
the people how they felt about spraying. Second by Bob Kettenring.
Motion carried. We feel something should be done about this
problem as there have been some complaints about the mosquitoes.
