LAUREL, MONTANA --- AUGUST 10th, 1917.
The City Council met in adjourned session in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall at eight o'clock P. M.
Meeting called to order by the Mayor.
The follwing Aldermen were present: Price, Ryan, Hannar, Davis,
Lamb and Dix.
Minutes of the last four meetings read and approved.
Report of the Police Judge, Chief of Police and Treasurers
report read and approved on motion.
Communication from School District #7 in regard to sidewalks
for Germantown was read and on motion referred to the following
committee; Lamb, Hannar and Ryan.
Petition. from J. H. Yendenhall asking perr,,iission to construct
addition to garage building was read and granted on motion, seconded
and carried.
F. J. Valek was granted permission to erect coal house in rear
of Skauge-01son building.
J. H. Mendenhall was granted permission tc susgbnd electric sign
across Main Street at the I'alcom corner, provided the sign was raised
)igh enough to permit #-###- an ordinary sized building to be moved under
it.
Bond of W. G. Tyrrell in the amount of $3000.00 was approved on
motion made, seco-nded and carried.
Bonds of W. E. DeGarmo in the amounts of $3000.00 and $500.00
were approved on motion made, seconded. and carried.
Ordinance No. 149 prescribing the form bonds and coupons to be issued
by the City of Laurel under and by virtue of the provisions of Ordinances
No. and No. directing the signing, execution, sealing and
delivery of same, and directing the payment of the first installment of
interest thereon, was read.
A motion was made by Lamb and seconded by Davis that ordinance No. 149
as read be passed and adopted. Upon roll call the vote stood as follows;
Aye: Lamb, Davis, Hanner, Dix, Ryan, Price.
No. None.
Absent: None.
Whereupon Orlinance No. 149 was declared adopted and was approved by
the Mayor, attested by the City Clerk, and the seal of the City attached.
Resolution No. 131 leveyino and assessingtaxes for the payment of
warrants issued against special sprinkling improvement district No. 1
of the City of Laurel, Montana, for the payment for improvements therein,
was introduced and read.
A motion was made by Ryan and seconded by Price that Resolution No.
131 as read be provissionally passed. Upon roll call the vote stood as
follows;
Aye: Lamb, Davis, Hannar, Dix, Ryanand Price.
Nay; None
Absent; None.
Whereupon Resolution No. 131 was declared provissionally passed.
Resolution No. 130 leveying taxes for general and specific purposes
for the City of Laurel, Montana, for the fiscal year beginning May 5th,
1917, was introduced and. reed.
A motion was made by Hannar and seconded by Dix that res®lution
No. 130 as read be passed and adopted. Upon roll call the vote stood
as follows:
Aye: Lamb, Davis, Hannar, Dix, Ryan and Price.
Nay: None.
Absent: Nohe
Whereupon Resolution No. 130 was declared adopted and was approved
by the Mayor, attested by the City Clerk, and the seal of the City attached.
Ordinance No. 150 appropriating taxes for general and specific pur-
poses for the City of Laurel, Montana, for the fiscal year beginning May
5th, 1917, was introduced and read.
A motion was made by Dix and seconded by Hannar that ordinance No.
150 as read be passed and adopted. Upon roll call the vote stood as
follows:
Aye: Lamb, Davis, Hannar, Dix, Ryan and Price.
Nay: Nobe.
Absent: Nohe.
Whereupon Ordinance No. 150 was declared adopted and was approved by the
Mayor, attested by the Clerk, and the seal of the City attached.
Minutes of the City Council of Laurel =;
Alderman Davis reported that the committee found it advisable to grant
McCauley permission to erect foundation of building as proposed in plans.
E. L. Fenton was hired to write up assessment books.
On motion the Sewer committee was authorised to handle the weed
situation at the filter bed.
The Fire Chief was instructed to have chemical engine repaired..
The following bills were audited and read and warrants ordered dravvyin
in the respective funds in payment of same.
